Shape Instructions
- In Microsoft Word, open a new blank document and save it as Shapes.docx.
Create a Shape
- From the Word application menu at the top of the window, choose the Insert dropdown and click on Shape….
A Media dialog box will pop up. Follow these steps in order:
- Click on Shapes at the top of the Media dialog box
- Click on the icon at top, left
- Click on the blank page in the docx document; a rectangle shape will appear
- Close the Media dialog box by clicking the left button (U) at the top of the window.
Format a Shape
- Right-click on the shape on the page, then scroll down to and click on Format Shape…
- Click on Fill in the column on the left
- Click on the Solid section in the right side of the Fill window
- In the Color: dropdown, choose the Yellow box in the Standard Colors
(if you hover your mouse over each square, the color name will appear) - Set Transparency to 0%
- Click on Line in the column on the left
- Click on the Solid section in the right side of the Line window
- In the Color: dropdown, choose the Text 1 box in the first row of Theme Colors
(second from the left – hover your mouse over each square, the color name will appear) - Set Transparency to 0%
- Click on the Weights & Arrows section in the right side of the Line window and set the Weight: to 1 pt
- Click on Shadow in the column on the left
- Make sure the Shadow check box is not checked
- Click OK.
- Double-click on the Yellow shape on the page
- The Format window will appear at the top of the page to the right of the Home tab
- In the Size group at the far right of the Format tab:
- Change the Height to 3”
- Change the Width to 3”
- Check the Lock Aspect Ratio box
